From a young age, Mim Best developed a passion for jewellery as an ancient and universal art form, drawing inspiration from its intricate, miniature world. The daughter of an artist and model maker, her early years were filled with creative exploration and an appreciation for handmade goods. Mim studied Applied Arts at Derby University, specialising in mixed-media jewellery. After graduating in 1998, she began working with Diana Porter, where she honed her bench skills over 20 years. Mim also worked for Aardman Animations as a model-maker on Wallace and Gromit, as well as collaborating with artists and producers, such as PJ Harvey and the BBC - bringing a broad spectrum of knowledge to her work. In 2019, Mim launched her own jewellery collection which includes one-of-a-kind designs in recycled silver and gold. Her work has been widely exhibited across the UK and has gathered a loyal following.

Mim Best’s The Finishing Touch Collection blends modern and ancient aesthetics into fine jewellery, these future heirloom pieces celebrate embellishment in all its forms.  Mim's designs are inspired by tiny decorative details, patterns and textures, ancient jewellery, and the intricate processes of handcrafting. Working with recycled silver and gold, she uses traditional hand tools and playful techniques to create shimmering, rhythmic patterns and unique surface textures. Combined with lost-wax casting, these pieces feature carefully selected gemstones and tiny beads with unusual cuts and eye-catching colours, chosen for their quality and provenance. The finishing touches and the many layers of inspiration in Mim's work demonstrates her meticulous attention to detail, which is never compromised and always lies at the forefront of her designs.
