Beca Fflur
Beca Fflur is a jeweller and small object maker from North Wales. She graduated from the University of Brighton with a degree in 3D design and craft, during which she spent time studying in Seoul, South Korea, where her interest in silversmithing first began. After some time away from making, working across various industries, she eventually found her way back to the bench. She has since spent two years at Bishopsland Educational Trust, where she developed her practice in both jewellery and silversmithing. During her second year at Bishopsland, she was awarded the Jane Goodman Award and Bursary. In 2025, she received four prizes at the GC&DC Awards for jewellery and silversmithing.
Llwybrau Llechi (Slate Pathways) is a jewellery and silversmithing collection by Beca Fflur, which is inspired by the rugged beauty and industrial past of North Wales. The enduring presence of industry is all around the town where she grew-up, from the slate beach of the old port village to hillside paths scattered with slate waste. Beca works with precious metals and locally sourced Welsh slate, combining them with enamel, resin, and composite materials to create subtly reflective pieces. Her process features intricate hand-engraving, layered textures and delicate colour work. Muted and dark tones are punctuated by brighter hues, shaping sculptural forms that reflect erosion and human presence in the landscape.
