Junru Erin
Junru Erin is a contemporary jewellery artist based in London, originally from Guangzhou, China. Her creative journey began as an illustrator, before evolving into a deeper exploration of craft and design. After relocating to London, she discovered a strong connection with jewellery while studying for a degree in fashion jewellery at the London College of Fashion. In 2024, she completed her master’s degree in applied imagination at Central Saint Martins, where she explored translating storytelling and creativity into real-world applications. Junru combines her passion for jewellery and playfulness to create wearable art. Her practice draws from memories and emotions, expressed through tactile textures, sculptural forms, and material contrasts. She specialises in techniques such as wax carving, press forming, and chasing. Her work has been exhibited internationally, and she continues to explore how jewellery can act as a medium for emotional dialogue and sharing empathy.
Junru’s Balloon Companion Collection, reimagines phobia as a friend, drawing inspiration from her childhood balloon phobia. This collection revisits her fearful experiences, transforming them into the humorous and surreal. Inviting others to confront and engage with the fear of balloons, the collection weaves imaginative and interactive stories between the wearer and the object. Each piece offers a sense of playfulness and protection, with balloon knots serving as a protective symbol, transformed into whimsical, wearable sculptures. The sculptural form and contrasting colours bring these memories to life, turning her fears into playful designs. The collection opens space for people to connect with their own phobia through curiosity and playfulness.
