For Beth Chesser, jewellery is a way of holding onto a feeling; it is emotion carried in structure, and depth revealing itself differently depending on how you look. This way of seeing began early: piano lessons, singing and photography gave her an instinct for rhythm, light and story, one she followed into a Digital Music and Sound Art degree at the University of Brighton (2011–2014). Studying animation and moving image, she was introduced to building meaning through layers. An instinct for treating the digital and handmade as one process still defines her work. Beth began jewellery studies in 2021, training at the British Academy of Jewellery in Birmingham and London (2022–2024), and developed her casting and 3D-printing skills at JewelCast. She now works from her Oxfordshire studio, creating made-to-order and bespoke pieces. In 2026, her collection Multiplane earned her a place on Goldsmiths' Fair’s Emerging Business Bursary Programme.

Beth’s Multiplane collection began with an image: the multiplane camera – an old animator's trick of stacking painted glass, layer upon layer, to make a flat scene feel alive with depth. Beth has always been drawn to the idea of the multiplane: that richness isn't found in a single moment, but in everything that quietly builds behind it. Life is made of layers: moments, memories, the people we love. Cast in solid sterling silver, each piece of the collection is built in the same way as the multiplane image, plane resting on plane, shifting and catching the light as you move. Wear it, and it changes with you; turn your hand, and something new comes forward. Multiplane is jewellery as small architecture, and as a kind of storytelling. Each piece has its own quiet scene, holding depth the way a memory does.
