Amber Cooper
Amber Cooper is a London-based jeweller, originally from Tauranga, New Zealand. While working as a lawyer in Auckland, she discovered jewellery through a desire to make with her hands and enrolled in an evening class. She fell in love with jewellery making and continued her training in London, after moving here in 2007. Amber now creates jewellery alongside her career in law. Her studio is a space for reflection, exploration and creative freedom. The work reflects a contrast between precision and play, with each piece evolving through the making process. Amber took part in Getting Started at the Goldsmiths Centre in 2022, before stepping away from jewellery in 2023 to have a baby. Since resuming her practice in 2025, motherhood has given her the confidence to create bolder, more colourful and expressive pieces, reflecting the dynamic contrasts in her life.
Plume is Amber’s debut collection in her distinctive feathered style, comprising 12 pieces of bold, expressive jewellery that showcase colour and movement. Inspired by the spectacular plumage of birds of paradise, each piece is meticulously constructed from hundreds of individual feather-like elements in sterling silver and anodised niobium. This intricate construction creates a sense of lightness and fluidity, allowing every piece to move gracefully with the wearer. Vibrant and playful, the Plume collection captures the uplifting emotions of freedom and joy through dynamic forms and striking colour, balancing wild energy with a refined, elegant hand. Balancing technical craftsmanship with expressive design, the collection celebrates colour, movement and the natural world, for those who see beauty in the unexpected.
