At the Goldsmiths’ Centre, we’re proud to present Spotlighting Getting Started, a free exhibition showcasing the creativity and talent of 17 emerging jewellers and silversmiths. On display until 26 June 2025, this vibrant collection features over 50 handcrafted pieces - from sensory kinetic jewellery to brooches inspired by the resilience of individuals facing breast cancer.
All exhibitors took part in our Getting Started Online business training programme in 2024. They were then invited to apply for this follow-on exhibition and development opportunity, with makers selected by a panel including jewellery journalist Rachael Taylor and members of our team.
As Charlotte Dew, our Head of Public Programmes, explains:
“Spotlighting Getting Started is an opportunity for UK-based early career makers to put their learning into practice. Through assignments, they develop skills such as preparing for interviews, photographing their work, and promoting it via social media. Each year, participants grow in confidence, paving the way from them to expand their businesses and showcase their work at events across the UK and internationally.”
This year’s exhibitors include: Alexandra von Widdern, Alice Biolo, Kayla Rimmon and Chloë Woomansterne (Aril Jewels), Beca Fflur, Emma Hardiman (Acanthia Jewellery), Heather Blake, Huimin Zhang, Isabella Bedlington, Liz Willoughby, Tika Stefano, Olivia English (oliviajanejewellery), Rachael Plassard, Sarah Wilmott, Wenyin Jiang, Niamh Wright, and Sarah Louise McQuarrie.
Each year jewellery and silversmithing enthusiasts and fellow makers can meet some of the exhibitors through our online Meet the Maker events. These live events offer valuable insight into their creative journeys, jewellery practices, and inspirations, providing a platform for these emerging talents to grow. Attending allows you to discover exciting new work and support the development of these talented makers.
