Inca Starzinsky is a London-based artist and designer. Originally a graphic designer, after graduation from Central Saint Martins, she spent 5 years as an artist-in-residence in their printmaking department. A desire to apply her print practice to three-dimensional objects led her to pursue a Masters in Printed Textiles at the Royal College of Art (RCA), London. After graduating from the RCA, she decided not to seek a career as a textile designer in the fashion or interior industry but to instead focus on making work under her own name, incorporating her background and knowledge of graphic design, screen printing and textiles. Exploring different routes over several years, she settled on jewellery making. In 2019, she began a three-year part-time course at K2 Jewellery Academy in London. Her focus was on finding a way to realise her designs and love for paint and colour in sculptural forms. Inca designs and makes contemporary jewellery from her studio in East London.

The Float Collection is about childhood memories, the sensation of floating before falling asleep, of having dreams and hopes. It’s about Inca Starzinsky’s young daughter questioning death and being upset that all the fun will end one day. It’s about not forgetting the dreams of your childhood, and continuing to find fun and enjoyment. Words are constructed from hand-drawn letters and are merged into one shape, as if they are melting and liquifying, taking on the shape of a cloud. The pieces themselves are made of brass and recycled silver. The cloud shapes are made by press-forming and soldering brass and turning them into hollow forms. Each piece is then hand painted by Inca which results in every item being unique.
